I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas & New Year!
Our family has been through a whirlwind of a vacation! First, we had two different Christmas visits with family, and then my older son turned 9 years old 3 days after Christmas! Things are finally starting to settle down, and I already have to go back to work on Monday……
I’ll share just one shot from Christmas -

Here they are at the table, playing with some new Angry Birds K’nex sets. Yes, my little one has a bandage on his nose – his big brother “accidentally” kicked him in the nose when they were wrestling around in the other room!
Hard to believe that my first born son is 9 years old already….. he is growing up in so many ways!

I had an amazing Christmas this year, probably one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) I’ve ever had! I actually have my OWN computer now, one that I don’t have to share with anyone (he-he-he)!!
Today, another present arrived by UPS – a new lens! I chose the Nikkor 16-85 as my next lens. I gave it a LOT of thought, decided what I would actually use a lens for at this time, and I decided that one was the best choice for me.
I took it out for a test run today. Since the wind chill factor was about 9º F, I didn’t stay out very long!

I will catch up with everyone at some point, still running a little behind on things!
I have a date with my husband right now to watch “Shark Tank”, so I will catch you later – thanks for stopping by!

i’m back to work on Monday as well ..
:) i’m waiting on a lensbaby to arrive
beautiful photos Holly, can’t believe your little man is 9 years old now
have so much fun with your new lens
It’s been a great vacation, but they always have to come to an end…… I wish it could be just a little bit longer….. I can’t believe my son is 9 years old, either! Seems like just last year he was in preschool….. and now he’s changing so much – he’s very mature in so many ways, so smart, and an all-around happy kid!
I can’t wait to see what you do with a Lensbaby – I actually considered one of those, but I didn’t know how much practical use I would get out of it. Someday!
Shark Tank is one of my favorite programs. Have fun with your new lens. Have a great new year.
I love the show, it’s always interesting to see what kind of inventions people bring in. We have actually helped out one of the entrepreneurs – we bought one of those drawings from the guy who draws cats! I’m enjoying my new lens, and I hope to be able to try it some more today!
A lovely picture of your first born.
Thank you! He came up with the pose himself (I think he’s starting to get used to it)!
Nice to see you back in the blogosphere, Holly. That Christmas break did go by fast didn’t it? Your new lens looks like it works very nicely. I am in the process of trying to make a decision myself – I have $200 to spend at B&H and I’m trying to decide the best lens for me for the money.
I had a very nice (and needed) break! I had to clear my head for a while, get away from looking at other people’s work, and “refocus” on what I want to shoot. I’m looking forward to seeing what you choose for your new lens! It can be a difficult decision, I thought about it for quite some time, and ended up with the one I thought I would get the most use out of. I am really enjoying it so far!
Love that first shot…Happy New Year Holly!
Thank you, Sheila! Happy New Year to you, too!
